Chattanooga Insight is dedicated to the teaching and practice of meditation and mindfulness in the Insight/Vipassana tradition. Informed by Buddhism and other contemplative traditions, we will explore themes such as mindfulness, insight, daily life practice and the transformative power of presence.

About Us

Chattanooga Insight Meditation group began meeting regularly in 2010 under the guidance of our founding teachers Kittisaro and Thanissara.

Weekly Meeting

We meet Thursday nights, 6:30 - 7:45 pm. We generally start with a 30 minute meditation, followed by a talk or sharing of an aspect of the teachings and practice, and ending with some time for Q&A/discussion. Occasionally, some evenings may also emphasize silent practice, guided meditations or reflections, small group interactions or other activities, depending on who is facilitating the evening. Our guiding teachers Kittisaro and Thanissara maintain teaching schedules and honor commitments and obligations in several locations outside Chattanooga, including the management of Dharmagiri, a hermitage in South Africa. Do sign up for the newsletter to stay connected and to be made aware when they are in town visiting and leading our group. The group is facilitated by volunteer dharma leaders, for most of the year.


Our group meets at the Center for Mindful Living on 400 E. Main St, Suite 150, Chattanooga TN 37408.


Newcomers are always welcome to attend our regular Thursday night meetings. There is no cost to attend, but donations are accepted to help support our teachers, our activities and the use of the beautiful meditation room provided by the Center. There is also no need to sign up or register beforehand. Simply show up. If this is your first time, plan to arrive 15 minutes early so you can check in at the front desk and receive some orientation before the meeting.
